Abstract

Lifestyles are an important element for people's well-being, where sleep behavior plays a determining role due to its influence on health. In adolescence, adopting healthy behaviors such as sleep hygiene is a key factor in developing habits for later life stages. With the objective of identifying the sleep habits of high school students, a quantitative, non-experimental, cross-sectional study was conducted with the participation of 607 individuals aged 16 and 17 from the Córdoba-Orizaba region in the state of Veracruz. The results reflect intermediate scores on the scale that assesses the participants' sleep hygiene, which allows for the identification of sleep-related behaviors that may affect the restoration and balance of essential organic and psychological functions, and thus be identified as a risk factor. The information obtained seeks to serve as a basis for the development of health promotion and risk factor prevention strategies through sleep hygiene for the well-being of adolescents.
