Abstract
The article focuses on the protection of the modern architecture of Veracruz, Mexico, and the need to preserve its architectural values. Despite the official protection of certain artistic monuments, many modern buildings nationwide that do not present exceptional artistic values are not listed or protected. These buildings have often suffered alterations without conservation criteria. Through a quantitative methodology of indicators, the article offers original information on the level of alteration of the facades of modern buildings and poses the challenge of how to integrate these examples of modern architecture into the national protection criteria.
