Abstract
This article resumes the results of the application of a survey to explore people´s perception and expectations regarding the economic situation in Veracruz and México. The questionary was shared through social networks to reach people from different social strata and residence areas. The main objective was the construction of a consumer confidence index, as well as complementary indices following the methodology developed by Microdata Center of University of Chile. As a result, eight indicators were obtained for Veracruz and for México in general. The indexes discussed in this article capture the perception of the economy in individual, state, and country terms, as well as the respondent’s expectations about economic activity next year. This information can be used to explain several decisions.
