Abstract
Restorative environments are those settings that have qualities to allow people's cognitive and affective recovery, in the face of various daily demands and stressors. Furthermore, it has been observed that open spaces with green areas better promote this psychological restoration. For its part, place attachment is considered an emotional bond with space that contributes to psychological well-being. The Universidad Veracruzana has a Campus for Culture, Arts and Sports, with extensive spaces for these activities, however, not all students are close to the campus, but rather they are located in faculties with different environmental conditions, which are distributed in different areas of Xalapa city. The objectives of this study were: 1) to compare the perceived restorativeness, place attachment and subjective psychological restoration of open and closed, everyday (faculty) and non-everyday (campus) scenarios in students of the Universidad Veracruzana from two faculties and 2) to know the possible relationship between the perceived restorativeness, place attachment and subjective psychological restoration of the participants. Through a quantitative non-experimental study, students evaluated different scenarios using pictures. The results indicated that the level of attachment, perception of restorative qualities and psychological restoration were higher in the open scenario of the Campus than in the other scenarios. Furthermore, high positive correlations were found between these three variables. The relevance of promoting well-being spaces for university students is discussed.
